Sure, you may know that Amy is one of the co-owners of Nashville Pilates Company, but what else do you know about her?
Q: How did you become interested in Pilates?
A: About 17 years ago, I was searching for a fun new way to move my body when I stumbled upon a Pilates mat class. After that first class, I knew I was hooked, and I've been practicing Pilates ever since!
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching Pilates?
A: I love, LOVE seeing people overcome barriers to movement! Being a part of someone's personal journey to health and fitness is always exciting and rewarding - it never gets old.
Q: What has been challenging for you during your Pilates journey?
A: Many of my clients are healing from injuries or have chronic conditions that cause them pain, and it's always hard for me to see this discomfort. Fortunately, I also get to enjoy seeing the sweet relief that the movement of Pilates provides to these clients.
Q: Do you have any advice for others who may want to start their own small business?
A: My passion for helping others is what drives me. Be sure to identify what motivates you and nurture that aspect of your business - it will help you stay focused and moving forward.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in Nashville? (besides teaching Pilates, of course)
A: Hmmm... Well, I love being outside, so enjoying all the parks around town definitely tops the list!
Q: What is the last book you read?
A: Meet Me in Atlantis by Mark Adams.
Q: Okay, share some inside scoop about yourself! Any random skills, hobbies or interests?
A: I can eat my weight in cantaloupe. I love bourbon and dark chocolate. Oh, and my husband and I are building out our van so we can live in it someday - while traveling and adventuring, of course! :)
